'The Voice' (s.6) Recap – Battle Rounds 2nd Night

The second night of battles raged and seven more artists moved on to the upcoming Knockout Rounds. The only thing I don't like about the show on Tuesdays is it being only an hour long and having half the performances kind of mashed into a short montage.

1. TEAM SHAKIRA: Clarissa Serna vs. Jeremy Briggs (“Cold As Ice”)
Shakira paired her two rockers, and both did very well. Clarissa looked great and definitely had the tone and attitude to command the stage. Jeremy also looked good on stage and showed us he's a rocker to the core. I originally said that Jeremy would win, and the song choice was perfect for him. Even after the performance, I still feel Jeremy was just a touch more 'there' on stage. But both were great, and I'm really surprised that a Steal was not used.
Winner: Clarissa Serna
Steal: No

2. TEAM ADAM: Caleb Elder vs. Delvin Choice (“The Man”)
While both had some problems in rehearsals, Adam said that the winner will come down to “who outperforms the other.” During the performance, Caleb still struggled a little. There were some pitch issues, and though he did have more energy on stage, he fell short on the technical side. Delvin had great tone, and while not as much energy, he had great feeling and held the song well.
Winner: Delvin Choice
Steal: No

And then the show moved to the montage:

3. TEAM BLAKE: Megan Rüger vs. Ria Eaton (“My Happy Ending”)
Winner: Megan Rüger
Steal: No

4. TEAM SHAKIRA: Ddendyl vs. Lindsay Pagano (“I Feel The Earth Move”)
Winner: Ddendyl
Steal: No

5. TEAM USHER: Brothers Walker vs. Morgan Wallen (“Hey Brother”)
Winner: Morgan Wallen
Steal: No

The final battle of the evening was probably the most heated (and hottest) battle the voice has seen in a long time (if ever). They challenged each other. They fed off each other. They were amazing together. On their own, they're great... together they're lethal. It's a good thing they are not on Idol... definitely wouldn't have been 'Harry Approved.'
According to Adam, Blake probably “had a heart attack” over there.

6. TEAM USHER: Brittnee Camelle vs. Melissa Jiménez (“Give It To Me Right”)
They took their spots, looked amazing, and ready to battle. The energy and attitude coming from them was spectacular. There were no noticeable technical faults from either one, and their presence on that stage was equally matched. Both had great moments, but it was Melissa's last note that shattered the stage. It was high (way up the register) but still strong, solid, and incredible. It was a hard choice, but no surprise at all when Adam and Shakira hit their buttons to steal.
Winner: Melissa Jiménez
Steal: Yes (Adam)

Don't forget to tune in next week (Monday & Tuesday 8/7c on NBC) as the Battle Rounds Continue!
